Before I became Rian's spaghetti knockoff, I used to write for fun about the girls I dated. I was ruthless in describing them. By any objective metric, my writing was a lot more 'misogynistic' back then than it is now that I try to help other men who struggle.
Yet, my readership was 60% female. Girls absolutely loved the bashing, so long as it was about OTHER girls.
It was only when I started to make generalizations about female behaviour, however mild, and they could no longer draw the line between themselves and the outgroup, that they all got angry and flocked away.
When this whole bear versus men meme thing came along, the one thought that kept popping up in my head was, "Neither the bear or the guy would take your deepest, darkest secret and turn it around and weaponize it against you like a chick does to another chick, royally stabbing someone in the back to elevate herself in comparison another female." The only people who have taken personal details to embarrass me in front of others is other female friends and my gay brother.
I refer to this as Legally Blonde syndrome. The pretty girl can’t possibly be smart AND attractive, now can she? On the other hand, I do really think we women spend way too much time and money on our appearances, because we’re expected to. The pink tax is real and it holds us back to a degree. That doesn’t mean women need to be policed by other women about what they wear or how much make-up they put on. I rarely wear make-up anymore since I retired, and only do so if I’m going out to dinner or a social occasion. It’s rather freeing, IMO.
I think her popularity isn't just that she resents women, although she clearly does. I think she has more of a comedic vibe, where she's willing to say things in a goofy deadpan that are both mean and true to some not so self aware women that she has on her podcast. You could be correct about where the impulse comes from, but there is a lot of self delusion that for some reason is funny to watch her poke at, partly because its so clearly a guilty pleasure for her.
"Maybe we’d all be better off if we did some “becoming” of our own." Yes, I love your advice! I wish I had a big sister who could have told me this when I was in middle school, riddled with acne. Added note: I sometimes feel bad about not knowing all these "influencers" (is that what you call them?) but the more I learn about them from reading your articles, I'm perfectly happy taking a break from the matrix and going outside lol
" Pearl’s entire career centers on disparaging women."
Firstly, Pearl cannot be disparaging 'women' unless you think all women think and act alike and are just a homogenous blob with equal moral virtue. Women are individuals, not a collective. Some women are more virtuous than others.
Pearl is actually being critical of specific women, specific types of women and specific traits that some women display. Her criticisms are always on point, full of empathy and even sympathy and are refreshingly candid. By knocking women off their pedestal Pearl is actually elevating women to the status of real human beings complete with agency, flaws and personal accountability .... rather than just being ornamental victims, damsels or objects of fake feminine perfection.
To frame her criticisms and observations as 'disparaging women' is to use 'women' as a kind of human shield to hide behind. It's a very common strategy: A woman behaves in a toxic way. The woman gets criticised. She (or one of her allies from the sisterhood) frames this highly specific criticism as an attack on ALL women AKA misogyny. The criticism has now been redefined as a hate crime. Personal accountability (along with personal growth) has now been successfully averted. Phew! And the critic has been successfully labelled a 'hater' and socially ostracised.
This is - ironically - one of the behaviours Pearl calls out as toxic. And that is what makes Pearl refreshing and very attractive as a person. Sure, she's average (like the majority of women - because that's what average means). But her ability to mock women's common foibles and flaws (including her own) gives her very positive vibes because she is being honest and real. She looks much worse in photos, and much more attractive IRL (on camera). This is very old school. Most modern women have crafted a prefect look for a selfie, but look much less attractive in real life (or on camera).
Pearl is old school. She talks and acts like women used to, especially older aunts or even grandmothers who would always cut the younger generation down to size with their astute (and painfully on point) observations. Young women desperately need Pearl's no nonsense observations to cut them down to size and offset the destabilising effects of female narcissism and vanity - which have gone into overdrive since the advent of social media and smartphones.
But she attracts hate because she is violating the prime directive of the sisterhood (female social hierarchy) which is to always back up other women, even if you have to lie through your teeth to do so.
I think it's got more to do with her not playing by the rules of the sisterhood. Also she's invited most of the major voices in anti-feminist and MRA circles. Most so called 'anti woke' or 'conservative' leaning channels do not give them a platform, and do not even provide a serious insight into feminist ideology and its effects on women.
At best they just point at leftists and say "OMG look how cringe they are!"
The last prominent woman to really challenge feminism and show sympathy towards men was Cassie Jaye (a feminist herself until the MRM woke her up when she was making her documentary about how terrible they were!) and she got absolutely slaughtered in the media and by her 'fellow feminists' (now arch enemies). The sisterhood hates dissenters. When Cassie renounced feminism they all went savage on her. Now they go after Pearl.
You're right. It's not because she's needlessly provocative to rile up an ingroup against an outgroup. but because she's the last line of defense for your gender war
She is not being needlessly provocative unless you think social commentary is needlessly provocative. I guess it is provocative because the current 'hot topics' tend to be provocative by their very nature, but that's true for everyone who reports on them.
Can you point out a specific thing she does which is more needlessly provocative than other social commentators or news channels?
Stirring up and in group/ out group mentality would be something like saying all men are toxic oppressors and all women are innocent victims.
Can you name another four women somewhere in the range of Pearl’s popularity pulling this shtick to warrant your attack on unattractive women in general? Comparatively, social media is overrun with thoughtless, attractive women making money off of their beauty and bodies from an audience of young girls and desperate men.
So if I were going to choose between either of your realities, I’d choose Pearls. Hers resonates because it’s true. Yours is just bitter ranting.

It’s an inborn trait and it takes a lot of effort not to do it, which is a shame

So true! There are some types of targeted cruelty that only comes from other girls

I thought Pearl is a comedy routine. Guys need to quit giving whymen money. -amirite?

I think I spend too much time online for my own good. One of my resolutions is to try to spend less to see if that helps my creativity

This strategy is explained very well here:

She's already got a boyfriend dude.
Do you think that's why she gets hate?

The Red Pill is many things, but the least of them is anything approaching a desire to improve men
Beautiful
I know... way too much.
Let's just say she did date once. A homeless black guy in fact.
Yeah it makes you wonder if she's currently in her redemption arc. (<- this statement is meant to be read with hyperbolic irony*)
