The article voiceover is a game changer. I loved that! And, not to mention: "...younger millennials (and by extension, Gen Z) decided that ACKSHUALLY who they want to bang is the only interesting thing about them. And all of us are duty-bound to congratulate them for it." -- *Truth*. The level of self-absorption is nauseating.
Well said. It relates to the reason I sense something is off with the concept of “gay pride”. We should all aspire to be proud of ourselves, but not because of the gender we’re attracted to. Our sexuality should be irrelevant. Celebrating it implies either that gayness is superior and the source of pride, or that it’s inherently inferior and trying to make up for what’s lacking.
I remember Robert C Solomon discussing pride as needing to be considered relative to what pride is opposing: pride versus oppression, or pride versus humility
This article is making me think about a future book I want to write, a slightly fictionalized version of my sister's first wedding (in the 80's), where my brother (who is a narcissist) treated the wedding reception like his very own coming out party - yes, that really happened (which will be one of many things that happen during the story). I am concerned that people will think I am painting a gay man a villain, with this Gen Z attitude towards LGBTQA - that a gay person can't be a villain. No, the antagonist just happens to be gay. Same flipped attitude my sister and other brother think about gay people is that all are narcissistic jerks, to which I point out, nope, they aren't. Our brother is a jerk who just happens to be gay, "the gay" didn't make him a nasty person.
It's a common occurrence I'm afraid. Narcissists always latch onto whatever they can use as a shield and make demands of everyone around them. When we hold to a specific identity as the victim or the good guy, it only hurts the good people in that group, as it provides cover for the bad people in it (or those who pretend to be in that group specifically for the cover it provides)

So glad you like it! I'm going to use Substack's podcast feature as well to send it to other platforms.
